How to Export all of my products?

How to Export all of my products?

Postby chaiavi » Mon Jul 12, 2010 5:57 pm

I want to duplicate my site.

How can I export/import all of my categories / pages / ans products to a new place?

I tried exporting all of my DB, but it didn't go good. - I need 2 different sites to have the same products categories etc.

Thanks,
Chaiavi

ok so if I get this right you want 2 copys of a site on 2 urls? if so you will have to copy all files over minus the cache files copy the db and import it to a new db and then you need to use phpmyadmin or whatever you use to edit the db and goto the settings table and change the url in there to the new one and edit config.php to point to the new db.

Hey no problem glad it worked for you. Just be careful about having that duplicate site running on the same ip and whatnot because I have heard of people using some of the competitors scripts being deindexed by making duplicate stores on many domains. its like spamming of the ANS kind lol if you are running on 2 or more IP's it does help to make some stores run on different ones. I have all my stores running off one install so I kinda shot myself in the foot footprint wise to google because I can not make some stores have different page extensions, but on the other hand I have quite a few stores up and running so any updating is as easy as uploading the new files and running my script to call all my stores update.php's

And to me leaving unless ANS dies then I have no plans on going anywhere.

I have no intention of making duplicate content - the second site (the duplicated one) is only for testing purposes.

That way, when I want to test new graphics to my site - I change it on my duplicated site - if it is nice and didn't fuck my site's design - so great , I'll update the real site.
