checkout - sales ratio?

checkout - sales ratio?

Postby Dutch78 » Sun Dec 26, 2010 4:02 pm

i'm wondering how everybody's doing with the actual sales from their ANS store. I'm having really poor sales lately, it seems enough people are adding stuff to their cart and going to checkout but apparently, as soon as the amazon login screen appears after they checkout the purchase is cancelled, very frustrating.

one of my stores has, sofar this month, 34 items added to chart, 9 checkouts and 0 actual sales :|

I had someone email me about their purchase because he was worried he bought the wrong item. I could see the checkout in ANS but the next day no sale in Amazon, weird. Sometimes i'm wondering if sales are somehow "missed" by ANS (my settings are correct btw because i have sold items before with this store)

Do you guys think it's a good idea to let the customer know that it's an Amazon storefront? I'm afraid that customers will leave my site and go to Amazon directly if they knew.

Have you checked to see if your affiliate ID is correct when a checkout occurs? Do a test and then take a look at the URL.

A better test will be to do an actual purchase.

Buy your cheapest product and then check the Amazon stats (the next day).

yes, the affiliate id is correct, like i said, i do make sales but it seems that the checkout data in ANS is not the same as the amazon checkout.

What i mean is, a buyer adds something to their cart, goes to the ANS checkout and instead of going to the amazon checkout they cancel, probably because they dont have an amazon account or it's too much hassle to go through a checkout twice.

That's why i'm wondering how other people are doing, how much of the ans checkout actually make it to be amazon checkouts? For me personally it's very low, maybe 1 out of 10. sometimes more.

Hi Adi, thanx for your reply

How do you let visitors know, through text or an amazon image?

Also, have you noticed any difference between letting visitors knowing and not knowing?

Might be better if you used an Amazon logo in the same way you would use a Paypal logo, as in checkout with Amazon or payments processed securely by Amazon Checkout etc.

Mind you, i've had no sales yet so i need lots of advice too lol

i've included an amazon associates logo on all my sites but can't say that i've noticed any increase in sales. But i see a lot less checkouts. So that could mean people skip my site and go directly to amazon. I'm still not sure what the best way is to increase sales. No logo/not letting know its an affiliate site --> more checkouts or logo/letting know it's an affiliate site --> less checkouts.
