How does this change affect ANS?

Dear Product Advertising API Developer,
On November 8, 2010 the Reviews response group of the Product Advertising API will no longer return customer reviews content and instead will return a link to customer reviews content hosted on Amazon.com. You will be able to display customer reviews on your site using that link. Please refer to the Product Advertising API Developer guide found here for more details. The Reviews response group will continue to function as before until November 8 and the new link to customer reviews is available to you now through the Product Advertising API as well.

it simply means that the reviews on the product pages of ANS wont work and it would just produce a link to the original product page of amazon.

But without the script being fixed with we dont even know if it will still work come Nov 8th

It should still work, but without the reviews we will lose a lot of SEO.

Think about it, all of those reviews will disappear from each store - that's a disaster, really, now my reviews are indexed in google, after the change google will notice that lots of text was removed from my site

I agree.. this can't possibly have a positive outcome for any of our rankings... Maybe someone can come up with some sort of script to scrape reviews from amazon and insert them or something? Maybe a crontab type thing? Surely a solution will come...

No,

An external solution is only a hack and as such is not promised to work all of the time.

The solution we need is a complete and good solution.

What we really need is the script to continue working as before without us noticing any api change!


How can that be?

Simple, the admin here promised a programmer to support the script, and although noone has come yet, I believe someone will, or I would have left already.

So, this should be one of his first assignments, to upgrade the script, so it will go to amazon and get the same reviews as before, so our stores could continue to work without being affected.

Amazon force us to display these reviews by IFrame,
for visitors of ANS it will looks same (reviews on our site like now or reviews shown by IFrame ).
But for SEO new way will be worse. Google will not see these texts on your site.

Maybe in future we will make changes to reviews system.
Maybe it's possible to copy all review texts from Iframe URL which amazon give us,
and add it to our database. So we will display reviews from ANS site directly...

I think this needs to be priority so we can get these changes in place. For many of us people find our pages from text appearing in a review. I imagine sales will drop significantly if nothing is done.
