Fortnightly Update #4
Ok, since my last fornightly update we have made a lot of progress with the script. Also we have rebranded the script to now be called “Affiliate Niche Script”.
I did mention in a previous post that we had decided to not add any new features and only focus on bugs, well sorry but I failed, but you will LOVE the new features!!
So here is the summary of what I have been up to since our last update:
New Features:-
- Category level min/max price filtering
- Custom templates can be created for specific ASIN or Category
- Added MP3 Player widget for MP3 products
- added functionality to item pages so you can choose various options for certain items before adding to cart, like item size, color etc…
- Created a user area, users can register/login to the site.
- Added “Save for Later” bookmark feature for logged in users.
- Added Price Tracking Alerts, customer can specify a product and will be emailed when the price drops!
- Implemented “Amazon Complete” for search field, similar to google suggest but keywords are returned direct from Amazon so they are relevant to shopping items.
- Searches are now recorded in the database for tracking
- Search cloud template function added showing the most popular search terms on your site
Improvements/Bug Fixes:
- Item/Cart tracking can now be enabled/disabled.
- fixed issue where if shopping cart is disabled, direct links weren’t pointing to the correct url
- fixed bug where if last item was removed from cart, the mini cart total would not update
- Lots more error checking added.
- Many more various minor bugs fixed
Well as you can see, I have been very busy since our last update. I am continuing at a great pace and may even be in the position to require some beta testers soon!
I think the price tracking feature is going to be our unique selling point, no other script has this feature yet. I have even found if useful myself. When I first added the feature to ANS I added loads of products to my account to test it out, the following day I received emails with lots of price alerts, I was actually amazed at how often Amazon do change their prices!
Of course there are websites tracking Amazon prices, but you have never been able to run your own. This will added lots of value to your store as it will attract repeat visitors, also as users register you build up an email list will be extremely valuable to you.
Thanks for reading and I will update you again in a fortnights time!
